The purpose of Conscious Communications is to cut through the noise and provide encouraging solutions for communicating climate change.
Conscious Communications is a podcast and community for communications, marketing, public relations (PR), advertising, journalism, and storytelling professionals to navigate how those departments and initiatives can prioritize ethics and the environment.
We discuss the environment by breaking down the lingo, current initiatives, and issues while providing action points for those to make a difference within the industry.
One of the challenges the communications industry faces is how large and fragmented it is, which can prove difficult in aligning and reporting on accurate or consistent ethical and environmental messaging without sacrificing storytelling elements. The Conscious Communications Podcast is intended to represent and champion a new way to standardize ethical and environmental communications. Take the pledge to be a part of the industry-wide change.
It’s important that we all come together as a community, and we recognize the power we have with our words and with the practices for distributing those words and where they go.”
– Macaila Britton, founder
Through creative application, you can expect to see episodes and other resources helping to identify what needs to change along with clear takeaways to implement change within your organization and networks. Learn more about our phase 1 goals.
Conscious Communications podcast and all of the communities’ other pursuits, will strive to be inclusive to all forms of communication and abilities while honoring the industry’s current ways of working. We will do this by making space for those who are disabled to be represented, which is widely known to be underrepresented across industries and especially surrounding environmental projects and discussions.
While our founder is not a disability expert, she created this platform and community as a way to bring about positive change to the industry. In order for this to be reflected and normalized, we must first include disability policies, practices, and have conversations with disabled people to ensure that everyone has fair and equal opportunities to participate in these and other climate discussions.
As a result, you will regularly see disabled experts, contributors, and guests who can speak on ways we can truly have inclusive storytelling and departments.
Why Does It Matter?
The alarm bells have been rung. Scientists are urging businesses, governments, and those with influence, to prioritize the shift towards net-zero.
The United Nations and IPCC reporting states humans have less than 8 years before we reach irreversible damage to our planet. But, in order for change to happen, we need to understand and equip ourselves with the tools.
