Introducing The Conscious Communications Podcast
Thank you for tuning into the Conscious Communications Podcast. I’m your host, Macaila Britton, here to help you navigate the climate crisis as a digital creative and consumer.
About
On this podcast, we discuss the environment by breaking down the lingo, current initiatives, and issues, while providing action points for those in the communications, marketing, PR, and storytelling industries, to make a difference.
The hope for this podcast is to cut through the noise and provide encouraging solutions for communicating climate change.
Challenges Within The Communications, Marketing & PR Industry
One of the challenges the communications industry faces is how large and fragmented it is, which can prove difficult to:
- Align and reporting on accurate environmental messaging
- Provideconsistent ethical and environmental messaging
- Pair creativity with environmental responsibility, without sacrificing storytelling elements
Solution
The purpose of this podcast is, to act in accordance with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals—also referred to as SDGs—to become a resource and champion a new standard for how to communicate in an ethical and environmentally sustainable way. The Conscious Communications Podcast is intended to represent and champion a new way to standardize ethical and environmental communications.
Diversity & Inclusivity
The Conscious Communications Podcast will strive to be inclusive of all forms of communication and abilities while honoring the industry’s current ways of working as there are opportunities to showcase how communications, marketing, PR departments, and initiatives can be pursued with ethical environmental priority.
Disability
Additionally, this podcast will make space for those who are disabled to be represented, which are widely known to be underrepresented across industries and especially surrounding environmental projects and discussions.
Now, I am not a disability expert, but I want the changes I’m talking on the Conscious Communications Podcast to be reflected and normalized within communications, marketing, PR, and storytelling systems. But in order to achieve that, we must first include disability policies, practices, and have conversations so everyone has fair and equal opportunities to participate in these and other climate discussions.
To ensure this, I have invited experts and disabled individuals as guests to speak this season on ways we can truly have inclusive storytelling and corporate communications departments.
Subscribe To The Podcast
Through creative application the Conscious Communications Podcast will be responsible for identifying what needs to change and then with accompanying resources, provide them for organizations and professionals to access and implement, while encouraging and inviting competitors and partners to do the same.
It’s important that we all come together as a community, and we recognize the power we have with our words and with the practices for distributing those words and where they go.
